3 Underrated Cities in Australia You’ve Probably Overlooked
Ready for an Aussie adventure? I’m going to show you 3 underrated travel destinations in Australia you likely haven’t though of. If you read Australia travel guides, you’ll notice that they focus on the most well-known places on the vast continent. Cities like Sydney and Melbourne are hyped as the places to visit. Don’t get me wrong; those are some world class cities that are definitely worth a visit. You can have a great time in Australia by just doing the usual touristy things in the popular places. But if you’re looking for something different, you can explore the many sides of Australia that travel guides commonly overlook. These destinations are fascinating and interesting in their own right. In this post, we are going to take a look into some of the places in Australia that are less visited, but have a lot to offer.
Perth
Out on the Western coast of Australia, you have the beautiful city of Perth. This is one of the most populous parts of Australia, although you won’t find many tourists here. However, Perth has a lot going for it. Anything you might expect in any Australian city – great seafood, good surf – is here. You can spend your entire vacation here and still have a blast. Perth is in the true desert land, so prepare for very hot, very dry weathers. Bring your summer dresses, shorts, loose clothing, sunscreen, and anything else you need to beat the heat. As long as you come prepared, there’s no reason you wouldn’t enjoy this beautiful city as much as other Australian destinations.
Brisbane
If we head over now to the East coast and the sunny state of Queensland, we find the small city of Brisbane. This peaceful city is still a great hotspot if you want to experience the essence of Australia. In fact, Brisbane has been something of an up and coming city in the past decade and is gradually turning into a hub for business and tourism. If nothing else, you will be able to enjoy a boutique hotel Brisbane near with top attractions, and you will find that there is plenty to do here. If you’re a foodie, Brisbane will be food heaven for you. It’s one of the best cities in the world for its sheer variety of food and restaurants. That alone is enough of a reason to visit. A sleepy city with an exciting underbelly, Brisbane should definitely be on your Australia itinerary.
Tasmania
Tasmania is not part of the mainland itself, but an island to the South of it. For that reason, it’s one of the least visited parts of Australia. Many people have never even heard of Tasmania. If you are looking for some stunning countryside, Tasmania is high up on the list. There are tons of beautiful beaches and vast expanses of natural surroundings. Also, the locals are ridiculously friendly and will be happy to welcome you to their stunning island. Here’s a fun fact: the future Queen of Denmark, Princess Mary, is from Tasmania.
